It is a slow process to start sharing gratitue with others via a website blog each day. A slow process for many reasons, like time to log on and write it out, hesitance on what to share as some things may need a back story and some things are very private, or the fact that I write another blog as well as working on a couple of books and then some for pay articles, so that leaves little time to write on this gratitude page of my website. . HOwever the primary reason is that in order to share it, I have to be open to acknowledging those amazing and many things that I AM grateful for in each day. Some days I find it is hard to find the motivation to seek out (within myself) those things that bring me joy, peace, love, security, and all of the other life affirming emotions that we all sometimes ignore. Some days I find myself choosing (not consciously of course) to wallow in anger, frustration, fear, or saddness--rather than embracing the amazing wonder of life and finding and expressing my gratitude. I sometimes complain more that I thank. That is the primary reason, and it is a bad habit. I just wrote about habits yesterday on my Life in Transformation blog, and this is one of those bad habits that I did not think to mention there. The bad habit of chosing the negative thought path rather than the positive. Even if so much is going wrong adn all of the other positive things are clouded, I know both in my head and deep in my heart, that there is ALWAYS SOMETHING that I can find to be grateful for. And I know that if I focus on those things and allow them to fill my mind and heart, even for just a few minutes each day, that my min, heart, and soul will tune in to the positive forces in my life, tune on better to God's Spirit and the wonderful things that are given to me each day, and my life will improve in all areas. Gratitude is both instrumental and necessary in the process of transformation to a more positive life.
So today I will share withe you all again my gratitude list:
Thank you God for good friends, ones that even though 8 years have passed since our last meeting, we were able to pick up right where we left off and share the same heart felt company that we always have. Thank you God for old friends that I have seen more recently than 8 years and can still enjoy and cherish our friendship after 19, 18, and 17 years (three different friends that I go to see this past weekend).
Thank you God for less tension with my ex, eventhough it was hard for my ex to have the kids all weekend so that I could go and help an old friend a few hundred miles away.
Thank you God for my beautiful children, for thier laughter, their talents, and thier amazing strength.
Thank you God for perfect days--warm summer days with a cool breeze and plenty of sunshine, and a break from the massive heat of the last couple of weeks.
Thank you God for little cucumbers growing on the little vine of our potted cucumber plant, and thank you in advance for the tomotoes that will soon grow on our little tomato plants.
Thank you God for providing enough money for us to take a mini-vacation to the shore with the kids, for helping them be able to tent camp this year, and for the ability to make careful financial decisions allowing for both needs to me met and for the ability to find ways for the kids to experience more of this amazing world we live in.
Thank you God that the IRS audit should soon be nearing a close and that the refund check that I have so long been waiting for will be arriving soon after the audit is completed.
Thank you God for letting me know that you will always provide a means to meet my needs--be it with food from a friends overstocked pantry when they had to move, the chance to clean a house to make some extra money, or the opportunity to bring in some money through my writing. Thank you for showing me that if I meet you even a little bit and open myself up to alternative ways of doing things, that the answers and the funds are there for me.
Thank you God for helping me feel secure about the future, about how I will bring in enough money to meet my monthly living expenses and meet the kids needs. Thank you for helping me to trust that even as this contract position ends this month, that something good will come along in time to meet my family's needs. Thank you for helping me be open to whatever may come, and for showing me different ways to put myself out there so that I am ready for whatever or whoever you put in my path.
